Meet Bubacarr Jallow: Growing Purpose Through Farming in The Gambia
Discover the inspiring story of Bubacarr Jallow, a Gambian finance professional who followed his passion to start Bubacarr Organic Farm. Despite challenges like limited funding and customers, Bubacarr is committed to growing sustainable agriculture and building a better future for Africa.
Bubacarr Jallow is a young Gambian who is building a future with both hands one in finance, the other in farming. By day, he works as a supervisor at a financial services company. In his free time, he is growing Bubacarr Organic Farm, a project rooted in love for the land and a deep desire to build something meaningful for his community.
Born and raised in Nema Kunku, Bubacarr says farming has always been part of him. “It’s not just inspiration,” he says. “It’s in my spirit. When I work with the soil, I feel alive.”
In 2024, he officially launched his farm, focusing on natural and sustainable agriculture. Though still small, the project is growing and so is his vision.
“I decided to go all in this year,” Bubacarr shares. “To be more consistent, focused, and patient. I want to do it the right way.”
The challenges are real. Bubacarr is working without much funding, and finding regular customers hasn’t been easy. But he stays hopeful. “You take it step by step. Just like plants, progress takes time.”
His proudest moment so far? “Seeing those shiny green leaves,” he says, smiling. “That’s how I know something good is happening.”
Looking ahead, Bubacarr hopes to expand the farm, buy more land, and invest in better tools and training. His dream is to build a model of sustainable farming that others across Africa can learn from and follow.
To grow, he is looking for support from customers, investors, and partners who believe in African farmers and the future of organic agriculture.
