Meet Yambrus Siga: The Gambia’s Hidden Artist Bringing Stories to Life Through Paint
Discover the story of Yambrus Siga, a self-taught artist in The Gambia creating vibrant portraits, murals, and landscapes through his art project Artseeker004700.
Yambrus Siga, known in the art world as The Seeker, is a quiet but determined artist from Jarra Soma, The Gambia. His journey is not loud or flashy it’s built on years of patience, raw passion, and an unshakable belief in the power of art.
From a young age, Yambrus felt connected to creating things with his hands. Drawing shapes, experimenting with color, sketching what he saw and felt it all gave him peace. Over time, that quiet passion became something more than a hobby. It became his language, his therapy, and his way of seeing the world.
“I feel like I’m a hidden talent,” he says. “I’ve tried many ways to express myself, but art is the only thing that truly brings me joy.”
Yambrus now runs Artseeker004700, a personal project offering visual art services including murals, portraits, sketches, decorative wall designs, and landscape paintings. His work is deeply emotional and rooted in culture, often blending imagination with the soul of everyday life.
Despite working in art for over six years, his path hasn’t been easy. Access to proper supplies like canvas, brushes, and paint is limited. Encouragement has been rare. Still, he continued trusting his gift, even when few others saw it.
“There were moments I wanted to give up,” Yambrus admits. “But something inside me kept saying: keep going.”
Today, he dreams of organizing exhibitions, connecting with more clients, and sharing his work across The Gambia and beyond. He hopes to inspire young artists in his community who may also feel unseen, unheard, or underestimated.
“Sometimes your gift is hidden not because it’s small,” he says, “but because the world hasn’t looked in your direction yet.”
To grow his dream, Yambrus is seeking support partnerships, visibility, funding, and tools. With the right collaboration, he believes he can bring more color and creativity to homes, communities, and hearts.
