Meet Mariama Jobarteh: Empowering Women Through Natural Beauty and Sustainable Living
Mariama Jobarteh is a passionate agricultural trainer and founder of Her Natural Secret, a Gambian brand that teaches women and youth how to make natural skincare and cleaning products using local herbs. Her mission is to empower, educate, and inspire through sustainable beauty.
Mariama Jobarteh is a woman on a mission. Based in The Gambia, she’s not only a skilled agricultural expert but also the founder of Her Natural Secret, a business that trains women and youth to create natural skincare and cleaning products.
With a background in Agricultural and Environmental Science, Mariama is a licensed NAQAA trainer in food processing, horticulture, and poultry. Her passion for helping others shines through everything she does from running workshops to guiding people in building better, greener lives.
She was inspired to start her business by her love for sustainable development and her desire to empower women and young people. Her vision was simple but powerful: to use local herbs and agricultural produce to create beautiful, useful products while reducing waste and promoting The Gambia’s natural heritage.
Through Her Natural Secret, she teaches how to make body creams, oils, lotions, soaps, bleach, and more all using natural ingredients found locally. These handmade products are not only safe and healthy but also help support the local economy.
Her biggest achievement? Training over 100 women and youth in just 8 months giving them real skills to earn income and build better futures.
Despite challenges like visibility and marketing, Mariama remains focused. In the next few years, she hopes to build her own training center and production factory, where even more people can learn, grow, and succeed.
Her message to other entrepreneurs:
“Never give up on your dreams. Keep trying, no matter what.”
